The GARNet team is pleased to announce that two of its 2014 events are now open for registration! 

1) 9-10 April 2014, University of Warwick - Software Carpentry for Plant Scientists: A Practical Introduction to Programming for Biologists

Firstly, on 9-10 April we will be hosting a Software Carpentry workshop at the University of Warwick. Software Carpentry teaches principles of good programming applicable to any coding language or application.

This intensive, interactive two-day workshop will involve a mixture of of live coding guided by the trainer and hands-on practical exercises. Both beginners and more experienced users will learn and develop skills in Python prohramming, managing data in Excel and Python, and scientific plotting using BioPython and R.

The workshop costs just £50 for two days of training, including lunch and refreshments on both days. On-campus accommodation is also available at extra cost.

2) 9-10 September 2014, University of Bristol - GARNet 2014 conference

This year's GARNet conference is on the theme of Arabidopsis: The Ongoing Green Revolution and will take place at the University of Bristol on the 9-10 September. 

We have a jam-packed programme, including plenary talks from Alistair Hetherington from the University of Bristol, Andrew Millar from the University of Edinburgh, Rob Martienssen from Cold Spring Harbor Laboratories (USA) and Paul Schulze-Lefert and Maarten Koornneef from the Max Plank Institute for Plant Breeding Research in Germany. 

Registration costs £150 per person, to include two days of excellent speakers, a poster session, lunch and refreshments on both days, and a drinks reception on the afternoon of 9 September. 

In addition, we are hosting a conference dinner on the evening of 9 September at the Marriott Bristol Royal Hotel - this costs £44 for a three course meal including table drinks.
